The George Harcourt Inn

The George Harcourt Inn in Gold Creek has become a Canberra institution. There's few better ways to spend a lazy afternoon enjoying a great beer and an awesome feed - if we do say so ourselves!

The George Harcourt Inn (opposite Cockington Green) was built in 1980 and named after a local landowner, George Harcourt. George was a bit of a lad in his time. He was a good businessman, a keen sportsman and, generally, an all round mans man - and an Englishman to boot.

More recently, The George was taken over by a couple of Canberra folk and as a result, underwent a face lift that has recharged this cosy meeting place for years to come.

And don't just take our word for it-The George was honoured to receive the Out In Canberra's People's Choice Award for Best Pub 2019!

The George features a rotating roster of 24 beers and ciders on tap, refreshing cocktails and a food menu of pub classics and modern favourites.

Dining

We have a comprehensive pub menu, dinner menu and menu just for the kids. We also have a special $12 steak night or $10 pizza night on Wednesdays.

After 2 years of $10 steaks, we reluctantly have had to raise the price to $12. The reasons are the usual... increased costs. We could have kept the cost the same but it would have been at the expense of the quality of the steaks and quality is the last thing we want to sacrifice.

Indoor seating

With the recent renovations our indoor seating capacity has just been boosted to 114 people. There's plenty of room to enjoy a meal and drink with friends in front of our large open fire.

Outdoor seating

The George has a large outdoor entertaining area with a capacity to seat 300 people. This includes the new covered beer garden, live music stage, gas heaters and wood fires to keep you warm.

Disabled access

Our front and side access doors are large enough to allow access for wheelchairs and mobility scooters.
