If you are looking for a Canberra hostel, there are basically two good areas to stay: the city center north of Lake Burley-Griffin where the majority of accommodation options are located, or the area around the Parliamentary Triangle in the south.

Canberra hostels are within easy reach of the airport which is close to the center of the city and can be reached by shuttle bus or taxi. You can also travel around Australia from Canberra by train or bus. There is frequent service to Sydney and Melbourne. The public transport system in Canberra is comprehensive and very tourist-friendly since it covers all major attractions on one bus route. Discounted daily tickets are available.

Canberra hostels in the southern part of the city are very convenient because theyre close to where most of the main attractions are. It is easy to walk around the area since distances between sights are not too far. We highly recommend the free parliament tours. Also, make sure to visit the impressive art and history museums the city has to offer. Another good thing to do is to take a boat ride on Lake Burley-Griffin and enjoy the picturesque landscape.
