Manuka Oval is one of Australia's most iconic venues. It hosts many sports including AFL games is a 13,550 capacity cricket ground located in the suburb of Griffith.

Manuka Oval


Set in the picturesque suburb of Manuka, it is the premier venue for AFL and cricket in Canberra with a seating capacity of approximately 16,000 including standing room.

The precinct retains much of its original tree plantings from the 1920s, with now-large mature specimens of cypress, poplar, oak and elm trees defining the circular space of the sports ground.

It is also home to the historic Jack Fingleton scoreboard which was originally located at the famous Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Manuka Oval hosts four AFL matches per year, as well as local cricket and the famous PM's XI and is just 10 minutes from Parliament House and the airport, with plenty of on-site parking.

Like ENGIE Stadium in Sydney, fans can enjoy kick to kick on the ground after every GIANTS match.

Manuka Ovals rich and diverse history has proved integral in its continuous use as a sporting venue. With a seating capacity of 13,550, the venue remains the premier site for cricket and AFL events in Canberra.

The Manuka Oval precinct retains much of its original tree plantings from the 1920s, with now-large mature specimens of cypress, poplar, oak and elm trees defining the circular space of the sports ground. The enclosure excludes the hustle and bustle of the surrounding suburbs, and helps visitors to absorb the venue and its associated events.

From the oval, the tower of St Christophers Cathedral and Red Hill are the only visible features outside the ground. On site, the original curators cottage and the Lords Taverners garden add a certain charm to the environment.

Manuka Oval hosts many local and national AFL matches, as well as local cricket and the famous PMs XI. Manuka Oval is just 10 minutes from Parliament House and the airport, with plenty of on-site parking.

TRAVEL BY BUS
Free chartered buses will depart from both the City & Woden Bus Stations to Manuka Oval. The specific times for each service can be found at Transport Canberra or by phoning 13 17 10.

In addition, travel on ALL Transport Canberra services is FREE on game day to holders of a game ticket - simply show your ticket to the driver when boarding. Catch the 935, 938 servicing nearby to the event with a short walk to Manuka Oval. Let the driver know you are heading to the game, and you can travel free.

Passengers are encouraged to take advantage of Park & Ride facilities where possible.

TRAVEL BY CAR
Patrons are reminded not to leave valuables in their cars as they are responsible for the security of their own vehicles. Please note that parking on verges and footpaths is not permitted and may result in a fine.

The maps below provide the recommended driving routes for entry to Manuka Oval car parks, depending on which car park you wish to park at. In addition, the ACT Government is trialing the ParkCBR smart phone application that will assist you in parking within the Manuka Shopping.

MAJOR EVENT PARKING
General Parking is available at Kingston & Manuka Shopping Centres, Kingston Oval and surrounding streets. Please refer to the seating plan to see which entrance would be most convenient to gain access to your seats.

If travelling to Manuka Oval by chartered coach you are permitted to drop off your patrons at the Main or East Gate Drive. There is no allocated coach parking available at the venue.

TAXI
Taxis are permitted to drop-off patrons at either the East or Main gate drives but would recommend dropping off at the Manuka Shopping centre then use the pedestrian traffic lights to cross Canberra Avenue

Taxis are available at the conclusion of the event from the Manuka Oval Shopping Centre Taxi Rank.
